Done!

Well, the North American Basque Organization has its national festival here in Buffalo, Wyoming this summer July 21-24th. There is a fundraiser for the local food bank where artists were asked to paint a replica of a sheep wagon. I feel honored to have been asked and this is how mine turned out! Since I am not Basque I did some research. The seven trees represent the seven provinces located in France and Spain and it is my painterly interpretation of the sacred oak tree in Guernica. On the other side the national flowers of Spain (pomegranate) and France (iris) are represented. And . . . you cannot have a sheep wagon without the sheep! According to the information I received this morning all the wagons will be on display in businesses all over town soon and will all be in the old Deerfield building downtown Buffalo soon. They are all up for sale through bid. I am also signed up to have a booth for the festival displaying my artwork.

Redwood State/National Park

Near Crescent City, CA is the Redwood National Park (also a CA state park). It is so difficult to take photos of the trees to show the scale as you take the drive. Here are a couple, my mom standing next to the "Big Tree", I swear that is what the sign says! This tree was saved from a man who wanted to use the base of it for a dance floor. The one with the bench in front of it is where we ate lunch.

I paid to drive through this tree which is on private property, it was so worth it, we laughed and laughed. It is called "The Tour Through Tree".
